Look Deeper - Just one layer deeper at a time
How many times have wondered and marveled at the waterfall. We love the colour of water, the turbulence and we get engrossed in water. How many times have we wondered at the beautiful cliff that created the waterfall in its first place? Could there be a waterfall without the steep cliff at all?
This example helps us look at things beyond the surface. To get to one layer beyond the surface.
How does one go deeper?
Apart from the water and the cliff - what else makes it beautiful? Its our ability to get access to it. An approach. An endeavour. A search.
We appreciate the waterfall because we have an access to it. Either we visit it. ( ie there is a road or a path that leads to it). Or we have a picture. ( that means somebody went onto search something, landed at the waterfall , had a camera, captured it). Appreciate the road and the roadmaker. Appreciate the photographer and his quest.
Can we go deeper?Why not?
Appreciate the inventor of the camera. The camera manufacturer. Film manufacturer.battery manufacturer. This is linear depth.
Go wider
Parents and family of the photographer. His teachers.
etc etc etc.
When we practise this exercise over many issues regularly and overtime, we can develop the skill rather art of going beyond the surface and looking at things from a wider perspective.
What this exercise eventually brings us to - it invariably brings us to the creation itself and to our opportunity to be there to appreciate it. This eventually helps us in developing gratitude - to people around us and for our own life. When practised sincerely - we will start seeing the thread in our lives. All the events that led to who we are - the successess and failures.
It finally helps us just be.
